Discover Helier, the Belgian monk who brought Christianity to the island and was brutally slain by pirates. Visit the Royal Square, centre of Jersey’s Government since the 14th Century and hear about local hero Major Francis Pierson, victor of the Battle of Jersey in 1781. Hear about how a local stonemason rebelled against the German Occupying forces in WWII with a V sign!

This walk takes in the extensive history of Liberation square, Weighbridge Place, Commercial Buildings as well as the French and English harbours as well as the more modern aspects of the harbour area with stops at ‘The Needle’, ‘The Sail’ and ‘The Freedom Tree’ sculptures.
